Before the Western world discovered the phenomenal effects of Kbeauty (Korean beauty) several years ago, I had already established a daily skincare routine of my own. I've followed a rigorous Korean skincare routine for almost 10 years now and it's a commitment, but a life-changer.
Every single facial product I use is a Korean beauty product--I don't use American products. So far, all of my Kbeauty items have never caused irritation on my skin, (in Korea) it's cheap and high quality. Also I've heard that the ingredients are healthy for various skin types. in general, I don't promote one brand over another--I use all Kbeauty products. In general, I use at least 8 different products--so it's definitely a commitment.
Here I will be sharing my nighttime routine because it's not too different from daytime!
Step 1. Cleanse
Use lukewarm water to open up pores, then rinse your face with cold water to close them. This is the last step when I shower to wash off shampoo/conditioner residue.
Step 2. Toner
Try to find one that works for your skin--mine is sensitive/normal. You don't want your toner to dry out your skin, and do not scrub your face with the cotton pad.
Step 3. Eye cream
Using my ring fingers, I gently tap eye cream around my eyes--this will also wake up skin (I love to do this in the morning).
Step 4. Serum, oil, essence
With serums and essences, I use half to one full drop and rub it in my palms. Then I gently pat into my face and never rub it in--this causes wrinkles and sagging. Instead, I will keep my palms in place to allow my natural body heat to help my skin absorb the product. Light tapping also helps and wakes up the skin in the morning.
Oils, I usually put about 3 small dots because I don't like to have an oily finish on my face.
Step 5. Emulsion
Emulsion is a light moisturizer that can be gel or water-based--ones with hyaluronic acid are known to be good for the skin. I use the same tapping technique to apply this to my face.
Step 6. Cream
Finally, I put on several small dots of cream on my face in five different points: cheeks, nose , chin, and forehead. Very gently and in a circular upward motion, I massage the cream in with two fingers to prevent overstimulation.
BONUS:
In the daytime routine, I ALWAYS use sunscreen because it protects your skin from the sun and helps slow down aging and sun spots.
And 2-3 times a week, apply various face masks to keep your skin looking its best! It'll keep your skin moisturized and hydrated throughout the week, and it works absolute wonders.
